A Cell for Elimination Of Lymphatic Filariasis at Vector Control Research Center, Pondicherry, has been established by ICMR. The Cell is working in close collaboration with the National/State Programme managers/officers, other Government departments, Non-governmental organizations, Researchers, Planners & Policy makers, Donors, People's opinion leaders, Press and the Member of endemic communities to initiate/support/extend elimination programme.

Objectives of the Cell

• To disseminate scientific and technical information on filariasis and its control
• Assist formulation of policy statement and preparation of strategic plan,
• foster effective linkages with partners,
• assist in the development and implementation of site specific strategy,
• develop tools and designs for monitoring and evaluation of the programme,
• Extend training and human resource development and
• Ensure the documentation of the process at all levels.
