mosquitoes.

90 % of the malaria cases occur in Africa and South of Sahara
6.7 % in 6 countries viz., Brazil, Columbia, India, Soloman Islands, Srilanka and Vietnam

Indian Scenario:
Malaria has been a major health problem in India.
Majority of the infections were due to P.falciparam and P.vivax.
There were 75 million malaria cases and 0.8 million deaths in 1947.
After launching National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) in 1953,
there was a dramatic fall in the incidence of malaria cases.
implementation of National Anti Malaria Programme (NAMP)in 1958
brought down the no.of deaths to 0.1 million cases annually without any deaths by 1965.
